Jinwen Wu is a senior majoring in Political Science and Economics. With a passionate interest in public opinion research and quantitative methodology for causal inference, Jinwen examined the impact of misinformation on public perception of the COVID-19 pandemic. Motivated by a deep concern for how political rhetoric on social media shapes public attitudes, Jinwen examines several xenophobic speeches by political demagogues under the guidance of Professor Jason Seawright. The study highlights how the frequent use of “China Virus” framing by Donald Trump on Twitter(X) may drive trends in people’s information-seeking behavior online.
